AGARTALA: The Border Security Force (BSF) in Tripura has detained 675 illegal immigrants, including 55 Rohingyas, so far in 2024, according to an official announcement.
During this time, the BSF also confiscated large amounts of illegal goods, such as over 9,000 kg of ganja, over six lakh yaba tablets, and 66,316 bottles of phensedyl cough syrup.
The BSF arrested 260 Indians, 620 Bangladeshis, and 55 Rohingya immigrants between January 1 and November 30. This was in addition to the BSF's principal duty of keeping watch along Tripura's 856-kilometer border with Bangladesh.
The BSF has also played a key role in addressing insurgency, securing the border, and preventing cross-border crimes while collaborating with state authorities and intelligence agencies to ensure border security and foster local harmony. The statement was issued on the occasion of the BSF’s foundation day.
