Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb reviews coronavirus preparedness

Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Friday urged the medical fraternity to remain prepared if any coronavirus case comes to notice. The State is free from any case of COVID-19 till now. He gave the call after checking on the arrangements for the treatment of coronavirus in the State’s premier Govenda Ballav Panth Hospital.

Doctors and other medical staff also demonstrated how quickly they can start treatment if any suspected coronavirus case comes to the hospital. The Chief Minister also held a review meeting where the Chief Secretary, Health Secretary and other senior officials and doctors were present. Doctors informed the Chief Minister that there is no dearth of medical kits and medicines for treatment but still there is some shortage of personal protection equipment (PPE).

Meanwhile, Health Secretary Debasish Basu told the reporters that 161 persons in the State has so far been tested but no positive case was found. Altogether 7,274 persons are under observation while 131 persons has been taken to institutional quarantine.

He said all the 26 returnees of Nizamuddin were tested negative but authorities have taken all of them and their family members to quarantine as a safety measure and they will be tested again after a few days.
