Tripura CM Awards Rs 5 Lakh 'Lakshya' Chief Minister’s Special Scholarship to UPSC Aspirant

To be eligible, candidates must be residents of Tripura and have a total annual family income below Rs 10 lakh.

AGARTALA: Tripura Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha on Thursday awarded the Lakshya Chief Minister’s Special Scholarship to Sagar Datta Majumdar, a resident of Krishnanagar Natunpalli in Agartala, who successfully passed the Civil Service Preliminary and Mains Examination conducted by UPSC. The scholarship grant of Rs 5 lakh was handed over to the deserving UPSC aspirant.

Several dignitaries, including the Chief Minister’s Secretary Dr. Pradeep Kumar Chakraborty, Special Secretary of the Education Department Raval Hemendra Kumar, Director of the Higher Education Department Animesh Debbarma, and other officials from the Higher Education Department, attended the event at the CM’s official residence in Agartala.

The Higher Education Department launched the Lakshya-Chief Minister’s Special Scholarship scheme in the financial year 2019-20 to support UPSC aspirants.

The scheme provides a one-time scholarship of Rs 5 lakh to candidates who pass the Civil Services Preliminary Examination and an additional scholarship of Rs 20 thousand for those who qualify for the Main Examination and Oral Examination. To be eligible, candidates must be residents of Tripura and have a total annual family income below Rs 10 lakh.

Since its inception, the scheme has benefited nine UPSC aspirants from the state, including Shatabdi Majumdar of Teliamura and Saurabh Das of Vishalgarh, who have been selected as IAS and IRS officers, respectively.
