Tripura CM Biplab Kumar Deb stresses on primary sector

Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb urged stakeholders to lay stress on the primary sector to make the State self-sufficient economically and said women can take a lead in this direction.

He was speaking after inaugurating the district level Kishan Mela and Exhibition at Udaipur. He said agriculture, fishery, animal husbandry, dairy, etc., are the foundation of a country’s economy and maximum importance should be given to them.

“If our mothers and sisters can become self-sufficient through these activities, the State will become self-sufficient automatically,” he said, adding that the government can formulate policy and program but only the mothers and sisters of the State can implement it.

He said every family can earn a substantial amount through rearing cow, goat, pigs, hens, and fisheries. In that case, the family won’t need to go for help to anyone.

He lamented that Tripura attained Statehood in 1972, but still it is not in a position to stand on its own feet. It is because those who were in power never lead the people in the right direction. He said there is scope for taking a loan for such initiatives and urged the people to avail it.
