AGARTALA: In a rallying call to the youth of Tripura, Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha emphasized the importance of student involvement in creating a safer and smarter state during the inauguration of ‘Jagriti – 2025,’ an inter-college quiz competition held at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala on Monday. Dr. Saha urged students to actively participate in the fight against drug abuse and to raise awareness about consumer rights and road safety.
“Every member of society, especially students, must unite in the battle against drugs. We need collective action to shield our communities from addiction,” he stated. He acknowledged the efforts of Tripura Police and other agencies in this context but stated that real change would be possible only through public participation.
Dr. Saha also threw light on the urgent need for road safety, as the number of fatalities due to accidents was a matter of grave concern. He noted that many incidents occur due to negligence, such as not wearing helmets or disregarding safety regulations. “We have lost valuable lives to road accidents, and this is a nationwide concern,” he remarked.
The Chief Minister took pride in the achievements of Tripura’s students, citing a recent participant from Belonia who represented the state in the ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ program with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He reflected on the past challenges experienced in the education sector, remembering the last time bomb attacks disrupted the examinations and urged everyone to unite against the new upsurge threat of drugs.
Dr. Saha concluded by urging the students and the public to report drug-related activities, thus reiterating the necessity of a collective effort to establish a drug-free environment in Tripura.
