Tripura CM Manik Saha Advocates for Drone Technology in Skill Development Initiative

AGARTALA: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha during the inaugural ceremony of a skill development program on Friday said drone technology has immense transformative potential for the enhancement of employment and productivity across multiple sectors. He listed key areas in agriculture, security, power services, wildlife management, disaster response, and healthcare in remote areas as those in which drones would be able to have a high impact.

He cited Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Act East Policy in his address, which is meant to promote the development of Northeast India as the basis for overall development. "India cannot develop unless the Northeast develops," he said, underlining that it has had challenges such as terrorism and kidnapping issues in the past. He further emphasized that untapped resources must be explored and harnessed to encourage industrial growth in Tripura.

Saha made the remarks when the state is looking towards technology to handle the local challenges as it strives to improve the quality of life of its residents. He called for a concerted effort to utilize the resources that the state has in plenty, resources that have in the past grossly been underutilized.

The program will equip participants with the necessary skills for operating and maintaining drone technology, thus opening job opportunities and increasing productivity in various sectors. It is a reflection of the commitment of the government towards innovation and support for economic development in Tripura and the larger Northeast region.
