AGARTALA : A revelation came forth from the state of Tripura, where excise unit of the state has seized more than 2000 litres of illegal drink. The liquors are approximately worth Rs 5.12 lakh.

The recovery has been made during the election season from several locations across the state. The Chief Electoral Office informed that, the state excise department recovered 2032.165 litres of illegal liquor on 31st of January, Tuesday. The total value of the seized items stands at Rs 5,12,617.

"As per the direction of the Election commission of India, the State Excise Organization is conducting raids to curb illicit liquor selling, manufacturing and transportation on a daily basis. According to the report, the Excise Organization seized 2032.165 litres of illicit liquor on January 31 throughout the State, which means Rs.5,12,617", it read. 30 cases has been recorded and registered from the state after the announcement of polls.

Many individuals also got nabbed during the process. Apart from liquor, several drug peddler are also under the custody currently for smuggling contrabands in the state. On 22nd of January, Assam Rifles seized 102.9 kg of marijuana.

As per sources, the seized contrabands were worth Rs 40 lakh. The episode took place in Unakoti district of Tripura. The Assam Rifles also tweeted regarding the same. Radhanagar Battalion of #AssamRifles on 21 Jan 2023, in a joint operation with Pecharthal Police seized 102.9 kg Marijuana worth Rs 40 Lakhs from Pecharthal, Unakoti District, Tripura,'' the Assam Rifles tweeted.

Despite several efforts by the state administration of various regions, few culprits are still carrying out illegal activities in around the states. An episode took place on 30th of January, Monday night, where a temple priest has been arrested in connection with illegal contrabands. Assam police nabbed two more individuals regarding the matter from Assam's Hojai district. The incident took place at around 10pm in Lumding town.
