Agartala: A JCB and another car parked next to a construction site in Dhananjoy Nagar's Shyamali Bazar neighbourhood, which is part of Hrishyamukh Block, were completely destroyed on Friday night.

As soon as the fire was reported, firefighters raced to the scene and put out the flames, but by then, both vehicles had been completely wrecked. Police believe there was some sabotage involved in the isolated location's fire, which had no apparent cause.

Bappa Sarkar, a contractor, was building a water body's embankment in Reserve Forest territory. Like every other day, he left the heavy machinery on the side of the construction site and went, only to learn in the middle of the night that the machinery was on fire.

Locals believe that an organised organisation may be involved in the region for such sabotage, although police are still looking into the incident. Four hundred rubber plants in the region were damaged by miscreants a few days ago without any justification.

A senior engineer, Rahul Dutta, was killed in a fire at an ONGC facility in Assam's Jorhat district on Tuesday. The fire broke out at the Borholla Group Gathering Station during scheduled maintenance on equipment.

Dutta sustained severe burn injuries and died at Jorhat Medical College. The fire was contained by the station's firefighting team. An investigation is underway. Earlier, a picnic bus caught fire in West Tripura, injuring several youths.

The fire started from the bus's generator. Six seriously injured passengers were referred to GB Pant Hospital. Chief Minister Manik Saha expressed concern and urged public safety precautions.
