Tripura Fusion Band Allegedly Cheated by India's Got Talent

AGARTALA: A folk fusion and semi-classical band from Tripura named Meghbalika has been allegedly cheated by the very popular Colors television reality show India's Got Talent.

The folk fusion consists of 8 girls from Tripura along with band Chief Ankita Roy.

India's Got Talent in Mumbai called the band for their performance but didn't attend them and the group did not get the opportunity even to talk the matter with event officials.

Pratima Bhowmik, the Union Minister of Tripura for Social Justice and Empowerment had sponsored this fusion band of 8 girls for their performance in the show.

Their performance was expected to be held last week in the Mumbai studio. Pratima Bhowmik has given her abrupt and sharp reaction on this matter and stated that India's Got Talent didn't do well with talents from the state of Tripura.

Notably, Band Chief Ankita Roy alleged that the authorities of India's Got Talent gave a proposal to the Meghbalika band as it told them to remove the tag of Tripura from their identity and add 1perfomer from Kolkata into the team. On agreeing with the proposal the band will be raised at least 3 levels ahead in the competition of the show.

Ankita said that they didn't agree on this with the authorities and then after reaching Mumbai no one from the reality show met the band. Ankita and her band denied adding any other member to their band and dropping Tripura from their identity.

Roy further said that the team of India's Got Talent has been persuading their band for the last three days to agree with the proposal and perform in Mumbai. She said only after accepting this proposal the band will be allowed to perform and the organizers will pay off their expenses in Mumbai.

She claimed that after watching their online test in September this year, the reality show India's Got Talent invited Meghbalika for an audition in Kolkata and they got impressed by the performance of the band.

On Friday 26 November they were called for the main performance in Mumbai and just a week before leaving for Mumbai the proposal of adding a member from Kolkata came forward which was rejected by Meghbalika and their decision was accepted by organizers.

After reaching no one met them and event officials informed that until and unless they accept the proposal the band will not be allowed to perform in the show.

Sushanta Chowdhury, Cultural Affairs Minister of the state Tripura asked the girl to return with pride as the band didn't lose anything rather they fought for their identity and didn't give up. The minister asserted to meet the girls after their return to the home state and said necessary action needs to be taken against such incidents.
