AGARTALA: The state health department was caught illegally providing manpower supply orders to a contractor based on a fake trade license. However, the health department failed to cancel the illegal work order even after it was discovered.

Reports claim that the medical superintendent invited tenders on 29 September 2023 to provide data entry operators. The writ petitioner, the Student Welfare Society, and others participated in the tender. Later the work order was given to a company called Best Service Provider.

According to reports, Best Service Provider had no AMC trade license. They issued a fake trade license to submit a tender.

In the High Court, the writ petitioner contested the health department's decision, arguing that the best service provider received the work order even though it violated the tender conditions. Several officers in charge of GB Hospital and the Health Department were involved in the dispute.

The most surprising aspect is that in the writ case, the deputy secretary of the health department appeared in court to defend the company, stating in an affidavit that the certificate of the best service provider was genuine.

The Chief Justice of the High Court led a division bench, directing the AMC to provide an affidavit clarifying its position.

Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice S. Dutta Purakayastha's division bench passed the judgment yesterday. Senior Advocate Purushottam Roy Barman and Advocate Kumar Chakraborty appeared for the writ petitioner.
