Agartala: Tracy Darlong always dreamt of winning a gold for India. The 20-year-old Muay Thai and kickboxing warrior has effectively won five gold awards in various titles up until now and is currently in Chandigarh to participate in the Boxe Francaise Savate Championship. On Tuesday, Darlong won gold in the 55 Kg weight class beating her rival from Sri Lanka.

While Darlong was studying in the 9th standard, Kickboxing mentor Pinaki Chakraborty visited her school. He had earlier trained Nishtha Chakraborty who won gold at Asian Kick Boxing Championship held at Russia.

"Pinaki sir visited our home and requesting that I advance Tracy's enthusiasm for sports. He disclosed to us she would be a decent contender. Be that as it may, I declined to release her to Kolkata for a competition in 2013 because of budgetary issues. She got another offer in 2014 to challenge in Bangalore and I concurred. My little girl won a gold decoration at the specific initially go," Biakveli said.

In four years she won gold at the WAKO India Junior National Kickboxing Championship held at Pune, the fifteenth National Muay Thai Championship in 2014, the WAKO India Senior National Kickboxing Championship, the National Amateur Muay Thai Championship in 2016 and the second National Savate Championship held in Chandigarh in August in 2018. She also won silver at the India Independence Cup International Karate Championship in 2016.

Darlong credits her close relative BN Darlong – who helps their family every now and then – her mentor Chakraborty, and individual villagers for her prosperity up until this point. She said needed to stop thinks about after the class 10 because of "some family issues" however wants to come back to ponders once more.
