AGARTALA: In a late-night operation conducted on Wednesday, Tripura Police successfully apprehended an individual and seized a significant cache of illicit substances, with an estimated street value of Rs 5 lakh. The operation unfolded near the Charipara area, strategically located along the Indo-Bangladesh border on the outskirts of Agartala city.

Superintendent of Police for the West District, Kiran Kumar, provided details on the operation, revealing that approximately 62 grams of heroin and a substantial haul of 900 Yaba tablets were confiscated during the operation. Additionally, authorities discovered 5000 empty vials in the suspect's possession.

The operation was meticulously planned based on specific intelligence received regarding Milan Miah, a resident of Charipara, who was suspected of not only possessing but also distributing narcotics within the region. Led by Officer-in-Charge of Amtali Police Station, Ranjit Debnath, the operation involved a coordinated effort, with the participation of police personnel, Tripura State Rifles (TSR), and Border Security Force (BSF) officers.

Addressing the media, Superintendent Kiran Kumar stated, "Our personnel conducted a thorough search of Milan Miah's residence, which ultimately led to the discovery of 62 grams of heroin, 900 Yaba tablets, and 5000 empty vials. The total estimated street value of these seized substances is a staggering Rs 5 lakh."

Following the successful operation, the accused, Milan Miah, was promptly apprehended by the authorities. A case has been registered against him under the stringent Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, which is aimed at combatting drug-related offenses in the country.

As the investigation progresses, Milan Miah is currently undergoing interrogation to uncover further details about the drug network and distribution channels operating in the region. Authorities remain committed to dismantling illicit drug operations and ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.
