Tripura: Man Opens Fire At In-Laws' House To Reunite With Wife In Khowai

AGARTALA: In a shocking incident, a man opened fire at a house belonging to his in-laws at Teliamura in Tripura's Khowai district.

According to reports, the motive behind the shooter's extremely violent action was to re-unite with his wife who left him a few days ago.

The culprit has been identified as Abhijit Das who hails from Dakshin Pulinpur village. He has been described as a drug addict by the locals.

Das reportedly stormed into the residence of his father-in-law holding a gun and immediately shot two rounds, triggering panic among the locals and creating tense situation.

Alerted by the gunshots, the anxious villagers rushed to the scene, prompting Abhijit Das to vanish from the spot.

It has been alleged by the locals that Abhijit Das often used to torture his wife mentally and physically, as a result of which, his wife was compelled to seek refuge at her father's house a few days back.

Based on police investigation, it has been found that Abhijit Das used a sophisticated pistol and two rounds of cartridges were recovered from the scene.

A thorough search operation has been launched to nab the culprit, who remains absconding.
