AGARTALA: Former Chief Minister and CPI(M) Politburo member Manik Sarkar made an incisive attack on the BJP, IPFT, and TIPRA Motha during the six-point demand campaign of Ganamukti Parishad on Saturday at Raj Bhavan. He branded the parties as "criminals of state" and called for a collective movement from all opposition parties to bring an end to their "dictatorial regime."
Speaking at the gathering, Sarkar alleged that BJP had failed to deliver on all the promises they made ahead of the 2018 elections. He said unemployment was the biggest issue Tripura faced now and that the government did little to mitigate this problem. "The BJP came to power by promising change and development, but after seven years, those promises remain unmet, and this has disillusioned the youth, he said".
Sarkar compared the tenure of the BJP government with that of the previous Left Front government and stated that the latter was concerned with the regular recruitment process for government jobs. He also criticized the BJP for its failure to raise the minimum wage to ₹300. The present wage is ₹240 with only 32 days of average annual work.
The CPI(M) leader also accused TIPRA Motha of undermining the non-tribal population and alleged mismanagement within the Autonomous District Council (ADC). He asserted that schools suffered from a teacher shortage and that ADC workers experienced delayed pay.
Sarkar concluded his speech by urging the citizens of Tripura to unite and combat the BJP, IPFT and TIPRA Motha. He reminded them that they require justice and development. Although the rally ended with significant support for the message, participants vowed to continue striving for the betterment of the state. However, the challenges ahead remain daunting, because unity is essential for achieving their goals.
