Tripura Minister's video of groping female minister on stage went viral in social media

Guwahati: The video of Tripura Minister Manoj Kanti Deb went viral on social media of putting his hand in the waist of Tripura Social Education Minister Santana Chakma in an indecent manner during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's rally in Agartala.

Minister Kanti was caught on camera while groping the female ministerial colleague on stage in the presence of the PM. It has been seen in the video that the lady minister slowly removed his hand from her waist.

Tripura's opposition Left Front demanded that the state minister Manoj Deb should be sacked from the ministry for touching his woman ministerial colleague on February 9.

Left Front Convener Bijan Dhar said that the minister should be sacked and arrested for his indecent behaviour on the stage in the presence of PM and Chief Minister of the state Biplab Kumar Deb while addressing the rally. He further said that the male minister has publicly harmed the modesty, sanctity and dignity of the woman minister at a public platform.

Dhar, also a central committee member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) claimed that many young and middle-aged woman were being raped, murdered and kidnapped after the BJP led government come into power in the state of Tripura 11 months ago and the latest incident of groping a female minister publicly on stage is extremely reprehensible and needs punishment.

The tribal parties have also tried to organize agitations and protest in demand to arrest the minister and also seeks his resignation.

Meanwhile, Food, Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Manoj Kanti Deb while asked about his indecent manner in public said that he doesn't want to comment anything on the issue.

The BJP led government however, has dismissed the demand of the Left Front of arrest of the minister. "The Left Front after raking up non-issues against the BJP government has now started character assassination of BJP ministers on false and non-issue matters," said BJP Spokesperson Nabendu Bhattacharjee.

The spokesperson, however, said that the woman minister has never made any statement and complaint against the issue raised by the Left parties and that they are doing dirty politics.
