Tripura: Obscene Video Played By Mistake, Says BJP MLA

AGARTALA: Jadab Lal Nath, a Tripura BJP Member who was allegedly found watching pornographic videos on his phone during the Assembly session, said that the video accidently appeared while he was watching something else.

Speaking to the reporters, Legislator Nath argued that because he is not particularly mobile-friendly, all of these pornographic movies have accidentally landed on his page.

"I'm not sure how this video ended up on my phone. I don't use smartphones very frequently, nor am I really fond of them. These videos accidentally showed up on my phone," he said. He added, "I spoke with my party leadership and the BJP state president, Rajib Bhattacharya, and he ordered me to wait for the decision the party will give me."

Before 2018, Jadab Lal Nath, a CPI (M) employee, switched to the BJP.  Ramendra Chandra Debnath, a candidate for the CPI (M) and a former speaker, was Nath's opponent in the 2018 election. Nath lost the race, but he ran again and won the Bagbasa Assembly Constituency in Tripura's North district.

According to sources within the Tripura Legislative Assembly, the event occurred on Monday, the second day of the assembly's session.

But since late last night, the footage showing the BJP lawmaker viewing pornographic material while the Legislature was in session has gone viral on social media.

He was seen holding a tablet with the claimed video playing in the now-viral video. In response to this video, internet users criticised the elected representative for acting shamefully during the ongoing assembly session.

"Mobile phone use is prohibited inside the Assembly. We should all pay close attention to the House's activities. Notwithstanding this, Nath watched the pornographic movie harming the House's reputation," claimed one of the three parties' MLAs and state Congress president Birajit Sinha.
