

AGARTALA: A disastrous incident took place in the Jagatpur Chowmuhani area under Sidhai police station in West Tripura district as a picnic bus caught fire leaving a number of youths injured.
The bus with the registration number TR01C-1352 caught fire before the fire brigade reached the spot and was totally on fire.
The accident occurred when a group of youths returning from a Brahmakunda and Bashgram picnic in West Tripura. A passenger who suffered injuries said that the fire came from the generator inside the bus.
"We were on our way back when we noticed the fire. It started from the generator inside the bus," said the youth. Panic spread among the passengers as the flames grew stronger, compelling them to run for safety in the remote area.
Local residents immediately responded to the fire. They informed the workers of Dum Dum and the Mohanpur fire department, who, along with the police, rushed to the spot.
Firefighters and locals rescued the injured passengers and took them to the Mohanpur Community Health Center for immediate medical attention.
An injured youth described the horrific experience of the incident by saying, "The fire spread quickly, and we were two to three minutes late in getting out of the bus." Despite the prompt action of the emergency services, the fire had devastated the vehicle and destroyed about 70 to 80 percent of it.
The Tripura Chief Minister, Dr. Manik Saha, reacted to the incident on social media. In the post, he wrote, "Deeply concerned about the unfortunate incident in Mohanpur where a picnic bus caught fire following a generator blast. Praying for the speedy recovery of the individuals injured in this tragic event."
The Chief Minister also mentioned that six of the injured passengers had been referred to GB Pant Hospital for further treatment. He ensured that the situation was closely monitored so that immediate medical attention could be provided to all the victims.
He concluded by appealing to the public to exercise care and alertness while holding picnics so that such disasters would not be witnessed.
This tragic incident reveals the significance of safety precautions, especially while traveling with equipment like generators, which can pose grave risks if mishandled.
