AGARTALA: In November 2024, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) arrested 23 Bangladeshi nationals during operations at Agartala, Jirania, and Dharmanagar railway stations in Tripura.
Additionally, the RPF rescued 56 minors and four women from several railway stations under the jurisdiction of NFR during this period, as stated by Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, the Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of NFR, in a press release on Sunday, December 8.
On November 21, a routine check by a joint team of the RPF and Border Security Force (BSF) at Dharmanagar railway station led to the detection of four individuals displaying suspicious behavior, the statement added.
During interrogation, the four individuals were unable to provide valid documents and subsequently admitted to being residents of Bangladesh who had entered India illegally, the statement said.
The four individuals were promptly arrested and handed over to the BSF's 97th battalion for further legal action, the statement added.
RPF personnel stationed at railway stations and on trains remain vigilant and alert to prevent illegal infiltration from border areas. They carry out regular checks at stations and aboard trains to curb such activities, the statement said.
The RPF remains committed to its relentless efforts against criminals, ensuring the safety of railway passengers and staying vigilant for individuals suspected of being involved in human trafficking, the statement added.
The force also monitors the movement of children traveling alone or without a guardian, among other issues, the statement further said.
