AGARTALA: Tripura’s Industries and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma expressed optimism that over 150 investors from various sectors would participate in the upcoming two-day Destination Tripura Business Conclave, set to begin on February 7.

Speaking to the media, the Minister highlighted the department's efforts to attract investment across key sectors. The event, to be held at Hotel Polo Tower, has already seen invitations extended to more than 170 investors. The government plans to sign memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with investors at the conclusion of the conclave.

Minister Chakma noted that the conclave will focus on sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, agar, bamboo, rubber, skill development, IT, and food processing. She also unveiled the schedule for this year's Industries and Commerce Fair, which will run from January 29 to February 12.

This year, the fair has expanded significantly, with 337 local businesses participating, up from 269 last year. A total of 515 stalls will be set up, aiming to boost business and community engagement. Last year, the fair achieved sales of Rs 6.28 crore, and the Minister anticipates even higher participation and business activity this time.

Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma embarked on a trip to South Korea and Japan on Sunday to attract potential investors and entrepreneurs for the Advantage Assam Summit 2.0, a business conclave set to take place in Guwahati next month.
