World’s oldest religion is Hinduism: Tripura Governor Ramesh Vais

Agartala: “Hinduism is the oldest religion in the world and people should to go through self-introspection and follow the messages of this religion in their daily life”, Tripura Governor Ramesh Vais said after inaugurating a religious congregation to celebrate the 125th birth anniversary of Sri Pravupada, the founder of International Sri Krishna Conciseness movement.

Appreciating the activities of ISKCON, especially in the field of education, he hoped that they will continue this service to the common people. He also advised the large gathering in the Najrul Kalakshetra to follow the moral education preached by Pravupada and to help in creating a healthy nation.

Rajkumari Pragya Debbarman, a member of the Manikya dynasty, that ruled the State for more than five hundred years was present in the programme as special guest. She expressed satisfaction over the activities of ISKCON and recalled the long connection of the Royal family with the Sri Krishna Movement. She said the last Maharaja of Tripura set up a temple at Mayapur in West Bengal and this is the base of ISKCON is now.

The 125th birth anniversary of Sri Prabhupad is being celebrated in a big way and a series of programs are organized in different parts of the state. Apart from locals, many disciples of Prabhupada from Russia, Japan, and Ukraine etc attended the programme and also participated in Nagar Sangkirtans.
