Guwahati: The month of February 2019 is being celebrated in DHR as Heritage month. Various events are being organised in this connection throughout DHR.
In this connection, a steam special run was organised from Siliguri to Rongtong on 9th February where school children were taken for a free ride on the steam hauled toy train. There are also plan to take foreigners also on a similar ride on February 16.

Quiz and art competition will be organised on 23rd and 24th February, 2019 at Kurseong and Darjeeling amongst school children and railway wards.
During this period, many important stations like Darjeeling, Ghum, Kurseong, Sonada, Siliguri Town etc have been decorated with LED lighting to make them look attractive. Moreover, Narrow Gauge steam locomotive and rolling stock presently available at Ghum museum have also been decorated. The Tindharia workshop where narrow gauge locomotives and coaches are maintained has been opened for common people to have a glimpse of the activities that are undertaken to keep the service running.
All these activities are expected to further popularise the service on DHR apart from strengthening the bond with the local population.
