Tripura Government Officials advised to follow Dress Code

AGARTALA: All the District Magistrates and Collectors of Tripura has been advised to follow a proper dress code and to appraise their fellow officials to maintain it during the meetings with the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, other ministers or senior officials.

Sushil Kumar, Principal Secretary to the Government of Tripura in-charge of Education, Revenue and ICA Department in a memorandum sent to all the DM’s and Collectors advised them to avoid casual dress like jeans and cargos pant. Citing his three-decade-long experience the Principal Secretary said he has never seen a member of any All India Service or Central Service or even CSS come to the office wearing a casual dress like jeans or denim shirts.

The memorandum also warned the officials about using mobile during official meetings as it often seen that officers are reading or sending messages through mobile phones during meetings. Saying that it is a mark of disrespect, the memorandum advised that if considered essential the concerned officer may go out of the meeting hall with permission of the chair.

The memorandum said the then Chief Minister also expressed dismay seeing that some officers talking while their hand or hands are in pocket. It also cited an instance of Madhya Pradesh when a officer received the Chief Minister wearing sunglasses and was duly chastised.
