This winter, you can flaunt the Cowboy style

Classic mainstays of cowboy fashion like the fringe-lined jackets, wide-brim hats and leather boots made a splash all of last year in the West, whether it was at red carpet events or on fashion magazine covers. Closer to home, our Bollywood actresses have shown how one can pull it off with sass and style. Here's how you can nail the look...

Riding the yeehaw wave

Cowboy boots, hats and fringe-lined jackets have been the mainstay of cowboy fashion, which is also referred to as 'yeehaw fashion' in some circles. You can mix-and-match and add some spunk to your wardrobe with high- heeled boots and accessorise it with a gold chain that's elegant and chunky. Take your style a notch higher with a cowboy hat if you are stepping out in the sun, or opt for a pair of black leather pants that hug your curves and pair them with a pair of stilettos or go for a billowy check blouse. You can pair that with a shimmery skirt or a fringe skirt and high heels for an evening out.

Accessorise it right While animal prints and sequins are finding favour with those wanting to sport this look, statement belts and turquoise jewellery also go with it. Denim always works. Scarves and hats along with leather bags are a few elements you can play with. Sport pigtails, braids or simply let the wind play with your tresses.

Apt for winters

You can choose to don pants or opt for a more feminine style by slipping into a prairie dress. The look is modest, and gives you extra coverage on the neck and sleeves, and can be worn as frocks or skirts. As it covers you from head to toe, it's ideal for this season. There's also room to layer it with a jacket or a woollen poncho. Stylist Isha Bhansali tells you how to put it together. She says, "Cowboy fashion works brilliantly in this weather. Check shirts, fringe jackets, prairie dresses, hats and boots can keep you warm. Even ankle-length boots are an option depending on the outfit you choose."

Give this classic look a modern take

The yeehaw or Wild West style is a classic look that can be given a modern take. The best part is you don't have to go all the way. You can choose which elements you want to include in your closet and dress it up or down. Stylist Ayesha Nigam says, "We are seeing a modern way of incorporating the Wild West into one's wardrobe, inspired by some of Bollywood's leading ladies. Whether through the fringe or exaggerated thigh-high boots, it's nice to incorporate one element into your outfit and have the focus on it. I love Shibani's thigh-high boots and Deepika's stylish leather pants." The look also requires you to have a certain attitude and be comfortable

in your skin.

Rocking the fad in the West

Model Gigi Hadid loves the Texan style, and has been spotted wearing it on several occasions. Recently, she wore pigtails and a cowboy hat, while Ciara chose to go with a bold all-black look.

How to pull off the Yeehaw trend

The term 'yeehaw' was coined by pop culture archivist Bri Malandro, whose Insta account showcases black cowboys and cowgirls in pop culture. Rather than going all out, most stylists recommend to pick out elements of the Wild West trend and make it your own. Here's how to do it:

Opt for big buckle belts

If you want to go casual, pair your jeans with a statement big buckle belt that adds a whole new vibe to your outfit.

Pick a statement shirt

You can opt for a full-sleeved floral shirt or go with something that's embroidered or opt for a checkered, silk or lace blouse.

Rock those cowboy boots

Go with ankle-length or high-heeled boots and pair them with wide-leg jeans or a prairie dress.

Wrap yourself with jackets or ponchos

The key is to keep yourself warm yet stylish. Opt for fringe jackets, printed woollen ponchos or leather jackets.
