NEW DELHI: In a major move by Google, the tech company has decided to remove all the third-party applications in the android phone that are used for remote call recording.

The decision has been taken in concern over the privacy and security on Android as the call recording tools often hamper the privacy policy.

Google has made certain changes and modifications in its Play Store Policy in view of keeping its developer regulations up to date and promoting improved security.

The permanent removal of the call recording app is a part of these adjustments in the Google play store as per a Reddit user who first spotted the news.

The proposed idea of removing the call recording mobile application from Android will be effective from 11 May 2022 which means users will be disabled to use any third-party call recording app after 11 May.

According to the new changes on the Play Store, the app developer will not be permitted to use Accessibility API for recording calls.

The news play store policy of Google to be effective from 11 May will make it illegal for any mobile application in Android to record calls remotely.

It may be mentioned that since long Google has been asking Android users to turn off call recordings to maintain privacy standards.

Notably, the company has already removed real-time call recording on Android 6 and the feature is completely disabled from Android 10 handsets.

In a developer webinar streamed live on Friday 22 April, Google clarified its new policy and said that the Accessibility API is not designed and cannot be requested for call recording.

While discussing the new updates of the Google Play Store, the presenter explained that if the app is the default dialer and also preloaded, accessibility capability is not needed to access the incoming audio stream and therefore it will not be in violation.
