68 packets of suspected 'Lali Gur' worth Rs 1 Lakh seized in Naharkatia

Based on a tip-off, at least 68 packets of suspected 'Lali Gur' (Molasses) seized in Naharkatia Railway Station Godown on Friday in a joint operation led by Excise department and Naharkatia Police.

Recovery of Lali Gur from Naharkatia Railway Station Godown triggered sensation among the local people, bringing back memories of the sensational hooch tragedy in Golaghat and Jorhat district this year.

On being informed, the Excise team along with Naharkatia Police in presence of Circle Officer Bikram Chetry raided the Naharkatia Railway Station Godown and recovered the suspected 'Lali Gur'(Molasses) worth around Rs.1,00,000.
