Almost 70,000 plus people from every community in Dibrugarh town participated in the 'Janataar Gorjon' Programme organised at Chowkidinghee playground by the All Assam Students' Union (AASU) in protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act 2019 on Tuesday.

The speakers vowed to carry on with their protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act until it was scrapped. Significantly the entire Dibrugarh town observed a spontaneous shutdown to express solidarity to AASU's anti-CAA "Janata Gorjon" programme despite no bandh call given by AASU. All business establishments, schools, colleges and banking institutions remained closed during the day.
