Anti-CAA protests: Protesters burn effigies of CM Sonowal and Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in Amguri

On the very first day of the New Year, several agitated protesters in Sivasagar's Amguri walked down the street to protest against Citizenship Amendment Act.

The protesters also burnt the effigies of Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and State Cabinet Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

While staging the protest, protesters also demanded immediate release of KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi and Bir Lachit Sena leader Srinkhal Chaliha among others.

Peasant leader Akhil Gogoi was initially arrested on December 12, by Assam Police and was later handed over to the NIA.
