The uneven rise in Onion Prices create mayhem amongst consumers in Sonitpur

The consumers in Sonitpur District feel the pinch because of the 'rise, that too, uneven' in the prices of onion at various markets. For the past couple of weeks, onion has been sold at various markets here at Rs 70, Rs 80 per kg.

On the other hand, potatoes are sold at Rs 30 to Rs 35 per kilo in the markets of Sonitpur District.

As per the notification by Assam Government, the wholesale rates for onion has been fixed to Rs 1600 to Rs 1800 per quintal and the retail value has been fixed to Rs 65 to Rs 66 per kilo, however, the scene is completely different at Misamari Gorubandha Market.
