Veterinary College in Guwahati creates hand sanitizers to fight the shortage of Sanitizers in Assam

In a major relief for the common people the Department of Veterinary Biochemistry, College of Veterinary Science, Assam Agricultural University, Khanapara, Guwahati has been preparing protective hand sanitizers as per the recommendations of the World Health Organization(WHO) to check the spread of novel coronavirus. Dr. Bibeka Nanda Saikia, Dean of the veterinary college, has played pivotal role in preparing the sanitizer. Dr. Saikia instructed the faculty members of the Department of Veterinary Biochemistry to prepare the hand sanitizer. He said that the hand sanitizer prepared as per the guidelines of the WHO is cheap and the components are easily available. The people involved in preparation of the sanitizer are Dr. Dhruba Jyoti Kalita (Professor and Head of the Department, Biochemistry), Dr. Shantanu Tamuly (Assistant Professor, Biochemistry), Dr. Jumi Dutta (Assistant Professor, Biochemistry), Dr. Dipankar Hazarika (PhD scholar, Biochemistry), Dr. Juri Borkatoki (Junior Research Fellow), Dr. Anisha Sultana (M.V.Sc scholar) and Sri Keshab Das (Senior Laboratory Attendant, informed he. The cost of procurement of ethanol was provided by the Dean.
