Gogoi also shared about his feeling about the present situation in the state following the introduction of Citizenship Amendment Act in the nation, Gogoi said, "I can feel that happiness amongst the youth of State has been ruined, thousands of protesters including women, students, artistes, intellectuals, farmers, daily wage workers walked down the street to protest against the BJP-led Government."

"I also feel that such situation in the state may yield a new political party, however, I am not in support of this," Gogoi added.

He further stated that formation of a new regional party would add to the challenge of contesting polls in Assam in the 2021 Assembly Elections in the state.

"We are open to any understanding if such a party becomes a reality," former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi adds further.
