AASU Swahid Divas organised in Duliajan

38 years after four of its members died in police firing during an agitation programme at Duliajan, the All Assam Students' Union (AASU) on Thursday remembered the four swahids during the Swahid Divas programme held at the OIL township. Like every year the programme was organised in front of the entrance gate of OIL industrial area, Duliajan. On January 1980, four activists of AASU - Ajit Neog, Kumud Deka, Nripen Bora and Nagen Deka had laid down their lives while participating in a protest rally in front of the OIL entrance gate. On thursday, the programme begin with the raising of the AASU flag. Family members of the four swahids were also present during the programme, a prayer programme was held at the venue. Representatives of several student, social and cultural organisations as well as prominent citizens were present. AASU General Secretary Lurin Jyoti Gogoi in his speech recalled the sacrifices of the martyred members.
