Gorkhas in Assam are also Indian Indigenous Community - Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangha

The Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangha in its 20th National Council Meet 2020 held in Guwahati recently resolved that Gorkhas in Assam should be recognised as indigenous community to ensure that it's constitutional and land rights are protected.

The National Council also called on Government of India and Government of West Bengal to bring an early resolution to the long pending demand of Gorkhaland with a permanent political solution. It also resolved to forward a mechanism to Ministry of Defence, Government of India and relevant authorities to ease issuing Gorkha Certificates across the country uniformly.

The 20th National Council Meet was held in Guwahati on 15th & 16th February, 2020.
