Illegal Encroachment at char areas in Jamugurihat under Sonitpur District continues: Reports

Encroachment in the char areas in Jamugurihat under Sonitpur District is rampant for the past several decades.

As per a latest report, an eviction drive was carried out by Sonitpur Administration on December 6, 2019 in five char areas which were allegedly encroached by unidentified people.

However, there are reports stating that those unidentified people have re-occupied those char lands, following which the administration under the supervision of Sotia Constituency MLA Padma Hazarika had sent them another notice to move out immediately.
