Karimganj District of the valley submerged in flood waters just before Namami Barak

Just before the highly publicized Namami Barak Festival Karimganj District of the valley submerged in flood waters after heavy rains & the water flowed from Mizoram. The two Rivers of the district Longai & Singla were overflowed & crossed the danger mark. The danger level of the Longai River is 22.00 but its present water level touched 24.04, whereas the water level of River Singla touched 19.115 against the danger level 17.985. Few hundred Bighas of paddy land submerged by flash flood and road connectivity cut off in many areas. Kabaribond & other villages of the Patharkandi area is affected by embankment breach . People of the area complaint that last year also there was an breach in the same area but local administration did not taken proper steps to protect the people. The area has been ravaged but help has not come their way.
