Rape & Murder Incident: Locals gherao Police Station in Pengri

Following the rape and murder incident of a married woman in Pengri on last Wednesday, the agitated locals at Inthemgaon gheraoed Pengri Police Station on Friday evening.

The woman was allegedly raped and choked to death by accused Bhudeshwar Gogoi along with his accomplices.

Pengri Police later arrested the accused and forwarded him to jail. Meanwhile, another accused identified as Golap Gogoi was also arrested by the police on Thursday.

As per the reports, the victim lady was returning back to home after watching a 'Bhaona' when she was grabbed by the notorious Bhudeshwar Gogoi in the middle of the road. Accused Bhdeshwar Gogoi then allegedly raped her and choked her to death.

Getting about the information, locals caught the accused and handed him over to police at Pengri Police Station.

A case was registered against the accused and was booked for (Case No 5/2020) under section 376/302 of the Indian Penal Code.
