Tai Ahom Yuva Parishad Assam Burn Effigies of AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam in Naharkatia

Members of the Tai Ahom Yuva Parishad,Assam (TAYPA) on Thursday burnt effigies of the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) party's MLA from Dhing, Assam, Aminul Islam for his "Ahoms are not indigenous remark" statement.

Around 50 numbers of agitators took part in the protest. They kicked the efigy of Aminul Islam several time later they burnt the efigy at Moran Tiniali Naharkatia. They shoughted various slogans against AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam like "Aminul Islam go back,Aminul Islam Bangladeshi." etc.

Aminul Islam, the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) MLA representing Dhing constituency in Assam's Nagaon has gained notoriety for claiming that Ahoms are not indigenous to Assam, while saying at the same time that Miya-Muslims migrated from neighboring Bangladesh are the actual sons of the soil.

AIUDF MLA, while speaking in a meeting, said that Bengali-speaking Muslims who migrated from East Pakistan or erstwhile Bengal province belong to the indigenous community of the state.
