All You Need to Know About IPL 2022 Mega Auction

New Delhi: The India Premier League (IPL) which also known as the cash-rich league is underway and so far, the league has entertain cricket fans across the India and in some other countries where the game is being played and recognized. However, for the past two years, the COVID pandemic has forced fans to enjoy the match while being at home as they are not allowed to come to the stadiums to watch their favorite team playing.

The governing body, however, has left no stone unturned to make things easier and exciting for the fans watch through several digital platforms or on television.

Well, these hindrances have failed to minimize the level of excitement for the IPL matches and fans are already waiting for the next season of the cash-rich league, especially for the IPL 2022 mega auction.

Now, let's go into details of this mega auction and educate ourselves with its rules, teams etc.

When IPL 2022 Mega Auction will take place?

Presently, there is less or almost now information available in this regard, but reportedly, the IPL Mega Auction will be somewhere between December 2021 or January 2022. If we look at the previous trends, the IPL usually starts in March or May but in 2022 it may be extended to the first week of June.

New teams and franchises:

As per the information available in media, there will two more new teams which will be added in the pool of eight franchises presently. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had already confirmed the same. Reportedly, Ahmedabad city will get one franchise while Lucknow and Kanpur could be the second new franchise. BCCI recently informed that for inclusion of two new teams, the tender documents will be out in mid-August.

IPL Mega Auction Rules:

As of now, no detail is available with in this regard but it is expected that there could be introduction of some new rules due to the inclusion of the two new Franchises.

IPL Franchise purse:

There are news reports which indicate that the total purse value for each franchise could be raised in the upcoming IPL 2022 Mega Auction. In 2021 IPL, Franchises could only spend Rs 85 crores on the players.

IPL 2022 Schedule Change:

It is expected that the schedule of IPL 2022 will be increased as there will be inclusion of two new teams. There will be 90 games which won't be possible to conduct during March-May.
