Manchester: Anshul Kamboj made his Test debut for India in the fourth Test against England at Old Trafford, Manchester, on Wednesday. The 24-year-old fast bowler received his cap from Deep Dasgupta.
Known for his skiddy pace and ability to generate sharp bounce, Kamboj was recently part of the India A squad for two unofficial Tests. In the second match in Northampton, he took four wickets, including two in a single over during the second innings.
Coming off a successful First-Class career with 79 wickets in 24 matches for Haryana, Kamboj has also shown resilience with the bat, notably forging an unbeaten 149-run stand with Tanush Kotian to help India A secure a draw in Nottingham.
Kamboj had made the headlines during the Ranji Trophy last season, when he picked 10 wickets in an innings against Kerala. He became only the sixth Indian to achieve this feat in a first-class match.
Earlier that season, he picked 16 wickets in the Duleep Trophy and was named the player of the tournament. Agencies
