Assam Amateur Boxing Association (AABA) to host Asian Boxing in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: Assam Amateur Boxing Association (AABA) will host the ASBC Elite men and women Boxing championship next year. The competition would be held in Guwahati.

The Secretary of the Assam Amateur Boxing Association Hemanta Kalita informed The Sentinel that the championship was scheduled to be held in November this year but due to COVID-19 pandemic it was deferred and will now be held in January, 2021. Karmabir Navin Chandra Bordoloi Indoor stadium would likely be the venue of the meet.

It may be mentioned here that the next Annual General meeting of the Boxing Federation of India was scheduled to be held in Guwahati in September but due to COVID-19 pandemic the meeting was also postponed. Kalita added that BFI will organize a meeting on September 10 through video conference to discuss the matter. The tenure of the committee may be extended for a couple of months in that meeting.

He also added that next date of the Annual General Meeting likely to be finalized in the forthcoming meeting and it would be held in Guwahati as per the earlier decision.
