GUWAHATI: Assam Cricket Association (ACA) will construct a new gymnasium and a reception hall at the ACA stadium complex, Barsapara. The foundation stone of the proposed complex was laid today by the president of the association Romen Dutta.

The Assam Cricket Association has been mulling the idea of building a sophisticated and State of the Art gymnasium to felicitate the players with their fitness regime for the last several months. The project will also house a reception hall which will be a two storied building of about 6000 sq ft. The complex is expected to be ready within next six months.

The Assam Cricket Association in a release informed the media that apart from the cricketers the players of other games will also be allowed to use the ultra modern gymnasium. On the other hand reception hall will benefit the general public.

Apart from the president of Assam Cricket Association, the other officials present during the foundation stone laying ceremony were Secretary Devajit Saikia and Vice President Porikshit Dutta.

It may be mentioned her that Assam Cricket Association has taken a series of development works to promote the game in the state. The upgradation of several grounds in different parts of the state has already started. The work is on to increase the size of the practice ground which is situated in front of the ACA stadium, Barsapara. The work is expected to be completed before the start of the season.
