Guwahati: Assam added multiple medals to their tally at the 38th National Games in Uttarakhand on Friday. Medals were secured in swimming, weightlifting, wushu, and badminton, while shooter Hriday Hazarika and cyclist Chayanika Gogoi narrowly missed out on podium finish.
Ditimoni Sonowal clinched a silver medal in the 64kg category, lifting 90kg in snatch and 118kg in clean and jerk. Assam’s second silver came through Subhranshini Priyadarshini in swimming, as she clocked 9:28.45 seconds to finish second. In wushu Padmini Narzari won a silver medal in the Toulu event.
Other Medal Winners:
Weightlifting: Sidhant Gogoi secured a bronze in the 67kg weight category, lifting 123kg in snatch and 158kg in clean and jerk.
Wushu:. Elina Rabha and Priya Boro bagged bronze medals after losing their semi-final matches. Meanwhile, Khudra Panging stormed into the final, ensuring at least a silver medal in the Games. Elina, Priya and Khudra competed in the Sanda event.
Badminton: The Assam women’s team secured a bronze medal after losing their semi-final match to Uttarakhand 1-3.
