GUWAHATI: Assam concluded their campaign as runners-up in the Junior Boys’ National Football Championship for the Dr BC Roy Trophy 2025-26 (Tier 2), falling 0-3 to Uttar Pradesh in the final held in Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh, on Tuesday.
Uttar Pradesh took an early lead with Bhavin Joshi finding the net in the 14th minute. Joshi struck again in the 83rd minute to double the advantage, before Kartik Kanwal sealed the victory with a third goal in stoppage time.
Despite the loss, Assam along with Uttar Pradesh have secured promotion to Tier 1 and will compete at the higher level in the upcoming season.
