GUWAHATI: Assam to face Hyderabad in their opening game in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Cricket Tournament which will be held in Kolkata from January 10. Assam will start their campaign on the opening day under flood light.

Assam are placed in Elite group 'B' along with Hyderabad, Tamil Nadu, Bengal, Odisha and Jharkhand. The side will play their first two games under flood light which will kick off at 7 in the evening. The other three games of Assam, whom they will play against Bengal, Odisha and Jharkhand, will begin at 12 in the noon.

Preparation of the State team for the forthcoming Tournament already started at the ACA stadium, Barsapara under the supervision of Chief Coach Ajay Ratra. Initially probables were invited to attend the camp and final squad will be selected after a few days of practice session.

Due to COVID-19 protocol all the teams have to assemble their respective venue by the start of January where the players would undergo three COVID-19 tests on January 2, 4 and 6 before they can start training on January 7.
