Assam Win Five More Medals in Khelo India Youth Games

GUWAHATI: Assam added five more medals to its tally at the Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG) held across various venues in Bihar on Tuesday. The haul included two gold and three bronze medals across multiple disciplines.

In Yogasana, Sprihaa Hrishi Kasyap clinched a gold medal in the Artistic Singles event, while Abhigyam Kayshap secured another gold for Assam in the High Kick event of Kalarippayattu.

The state also claimed two bronze medals in the Urmi Sword Shield Fight (Team) category in Kalarippayattu. The duo of Bishal Chakraborty and Raj Singh scored 39.5 to secure one bronze, while Dhrubadeep Singha and Jakaia Islam earned another with a score of 38.3.

Additionally, Assam’s Chankya Bora brought home a bronze medal in the 102 kg weightlifting category.

With these medals, Assam are now placed 8th in the overall medal tally, having collected a total of 19 medals — 8 gold, 3 silver, and 8 bronze.
