GUWAHATI:Assam’s Priyanuj Bhattacharyya delivered a stellar performance to clinch the boys’ singles gold medal in table tennis at the Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG) 2025, held at the Rajgir Sports Complex Indoor Hall on Saturday.
After dropping the first game to Tamil Nadu’s PB Abhinand, Priyanuj bounced back impressively to win the match 4-1. The final scores read 7-11, 12-10, 11-7, 11-7, 11-6. This marks his second medal of the tournament—he had earlier secured silver in the doubles event.
Assam today added another gold medal and it came in Sepak Takraw. In a thrilling boys’ doubles final, the Assam pair overcame Bihar. They dominated the first set 15-9, and though Bihar pushed the second set to the limit, Assam sealed the match 17-15 on their third match point. In weightlifting, Dharamajyoti Dewgharia claimed a bronze medal in the 55 kg category. He lifted 89 kg in snatch and 118 kg in clean and jerk to secure third place.
