GUWAHATI: Assam continued its strong showing at the Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG), adding six more medals to its tally across various venues in Bihar on Wednesday. The medal haul for the day included two gold, two silver, and two bronze medals.
With the latest achievement, Assam has now surpassed its total medal count from the previous edition of the Games. In the last KIYG, held in Tamil Nadu, the state had secured a total of 24 medals. This year, Assam has already collected 25 medals, marking a notable improvement in performance.
Among Wednesday’s medal winners, Thang-Ta contributed significantly with two gold and two silver medals. Additionally, Assam earned a bronze medal each in boxing and cycling.
Results; Gold: Rajeep Das in Phunaba (60kg, Thang-Ta) and Pranoy Das in Phunaba (56 kg, Thangta). Silver: Memola Devi and Renuka Devi (Thang-Ta). Bronze: Nirvan Jyoti Gogoi (Boxing, 75-80 kg), Rupjyoti Kataki (Cycling, 80 km Indivudal Road Race).
