Northeast Half Marathon: a Series of Running Events in NE

Guwahati: The first ever series of half marathons called the Northeast Half Marathon is to be conducted in various picturesque locations of North East India as a joint initiative of Northeast Frontier Railway and Innovations India. It aims towards the empowerment of sportspersons and the development of North East India in line with the Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi's vision of Developing Northeast and Nation Building.

The first leg of the event will be hosted in Guwahati on February 5, followed by Darjeeling on February 26 and Tawang on March 12. Registrations for the Guwahati leg are now open on the official website www.nehalfmarathon.com.

Curated by Captain Rahul Bali, this series of Marathons will be conducted in Guwahati, Darjeeling and Tawang and would be supported by the state governments of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, Sports Authority of India, Assam Athletic Association and a number of organisations with the aim of empowering the sportspersons and development of Northeast India. More than 5000 runners from all across India as well as abroad are expected to participate in these marathons

The special thing about NE Half Marathon is that it's the first of its kind Half Marathon that will highlight all states of Northeast India as one entity and would surely catapult the complete Northeast Region of India into the limelight at both National & International Platforms.

NF Railway has been instrumental in connecting North East India by rail and is steadfast in its endeavour of Empowering the sportspersons and development of Northeast India with a number of initiatives and endeavours in partnership with various State Governments, Departments & Associations.

The NE Half Marathon will be a landmark step in the same direction. It would act as one of the biggest platforms towards Development and would surely create euphoria about both NE India and India across the globe.

The NE Half Marathon would also go a long way in nurturing and empowering the Sportspersons of the region enabling them to perform on various National and International platforms and bring glory to India.
