Border line residents get help from BSF

Under ‘Civic Action Programme’, substantial number of sports goods were handed over to the management of Latu High School located at Gobindapur.

Silchar: Under 'Civic Action Programme', substantial number of sports goods were handed over to the management of Latu High School located at Gobindapur. Filters were provided to residents of Latukandi of the 'no man's land' recently. On this occasion Pankaj Sudan, second in command of 07 Bn of BSF, Akhil Chandra Mandal, deputy commandant, Guradeep Singh, assistant commandant, Pankaj G Kumar, inspector, were present.

Speaking before the teachers, students and management, Pankaj Sudan said that besides academic exercises, students have to take care of their physical health to keep their body and mind fit. He quoted the well known adage 'a healthy mind lives in healthy body.' The sports goods and materials will be of great help to students to give equal attention to bodily exercises. He cited the example of brilliant and promising girl Hima Das who by dint of her hard work has bought laurels to Assam. She is now posted as DSP.

Pankaj Sudan added to say apart from regular studies, students have to go for physical exercises, yoga and games as well as sports, both indoor and outdoor. Addressing the residents of Gobindapur, he pointed out as per directive of the central government, every year under 'Civic Action Programme' people of the border areas are helped by BSF. It was also the objective of the programme to stand by the poor and needy people and help them in every possible manner as far as possible. The Second in Command of the BSF said that he was aware of the lack of safe drinking water for the people of Gobindapur and keeping this in mind, each and every family has been provided water filter. Head Master of Latu High School, Kripa Sindhu Das, appreciated the BSF for coming to the help of students and people in general of Latu areas.
