Breaking: Mahendra Singh Dhoni announces retirement from international cricket

Guwahati: Former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, a two-time World Cup winner, announced his retirement on Saturday (August 15) in an Instagram post.

"Thanks a lot for ur love and support throughout. from 1929 hrs consider me as Retired (sic)", he wrote in the post, announcing his retirement from international cricket. However, this post clearly does not specify which formats of the game he is retiring from.

However, Mahendra Singh Dhoni is expected to feature prominently in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as he was spotted earlier today arriving in Chennai for Chennai Super Kings' training camp before they fly out.

Dhoni last played a Test match in December 2014; his last T20 game was in February 2019; and his last One-Day International was the World Cup semifinal against New Zealand in July 2019, a nail-biter which India lost.

This is a developing story. Stay tuned for further updates.
