
NEW DELHI: Amid the mega 2022 IPL Auction, auctioneer Hugh Edmeades suddenly collapsed on his way through the auction and in concern to the incident an early lunch break was taken.
The Hugh Edmeades fainted on the first day of the two days long Indian Premier League Auction for this year on Saturday 12 February in Bangaluru.
Immediately after the auctioneer collapsed in the auction room from the stage, medical attention was arranged by the IPL team owners and supporting staff members.
The incident occurred when the IPL teams were bidding for Wanindu Hasaranga the Sri Lanka allrounder.
RCB took to Twitter to state that 'Hoping Hugh Edmeades is doing well and a lunch break is taken in between the auction event.
The organizers of the Indian Premier League Auction later also informed about the health condition of the auctioneer saying that he is fine and the medical team is looking after him.
They also informed that he is expected to be present in the next set for IPL Auction and the auction will be soon resumed.
One of the IPL organizers who is a BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) spokesperson asserted that they will be providing further updates about the auctioneer's health.
The reason for Edmeades suddenly fainting is informed as a decrease in his blood pressure level and more details will be known after the thorough check-up by the group of doctors.
The Edmeades collapsed in IPL 2022 Auction is an international fine art, classic car and charity auctioneer who have conducted more than 2500 auctions across the world in his 36 years of a long career.
He has sold more than three lakh lots for a sum of over 2.7 billion pounds. In the year 2004, he had conducted the auction of 88 guitars belonging to Eric Clapton raising a total of 7,438,624.
Throughout his career, Edmeades has experienced dealing with a range of items that include ceramics and works of art, fine furniture, film and sporting monument.
